Each year in July, the Cheyenne Police Department (CPD) hosts Neighborhood Night Out; a community-building event designed to bring neighbors, businesses, and police together in partnership against crime in Cheyenne.
Neighborhood Night Out is a great way to get to know others in your community and have fun! When neighbors are able to meet and connect with one another and the officers that serve them, we are able to work together to prevent crime.
Neighborhood Captains: You are the most important element in our Neighborhood Night Out! Each year, neighborhood “Block Captains” organize specific block parties featuring cookouts, live music, and entertainment. You will plan your block party with the Police Department, recruit neighborhood helpers, and work with sponsoring businesses/groups to host the best block party in the City!
Block Captain Planning Meeting: The CPD will kick off this year’s Neighborhood Night Out by hosting a Block Captain planning meeting. Anyone interested in hosting a block party is encouraged to participate.
- When: Thursday, May 30 at 5:30 p.m.
- Where: Public Safety Center located at 415 West 18th Street
This meeting will be informational and feature an open discussion for sharing fun block party planning ideas. Whether you have hosted a block party in the past or are interested in hosting a party this year, this is your opportunity to begin the process and plan a special event for your neighborhood.
Cheyenne Businesses, Churches and Groups: We need you! Rather than donations of money, we ask that you work with neighborhood Captains and generously provide your resources to a block party looking for help. You can determine how to assist, as it may come in many forms such as food/catering, live music, games, or attractions such as blow up jumpers, balloons, or water games. The program will recognize every supporting business, church, and/or specialty group by every means possible throughout the year.
Every block party will be unique - individual neighborhoods may plan vastly different meals, activities, and entertainment.
Neighborhood Night Out seeks to enhance the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement while bringing back a true sense of community. Furthermore, it provides a great opportunity to bring police and neighbors together under positive circumstances. Officers and neighbors working together DO make a difference!
