A Colorado man was arrested Monday evening after driving through a local golf course and leading officers on a slow-speed pursuit.
On September 28 at approximately 5:00 p.m. Cheyenne Police Officers were dispatched to a report of a truck driving on the golf course at the Cheyenne Country Club, located at 800 Stinner Road.
As officers arrived, the suspect vehicle, a blue GMC Sierra, drove through a fence and left the golf course. Officers attempted to make a traffic stop, but the driver, later identified as Gust Martinez Jr., 48 years old, from Lakewood, Colorado refused to yield and continued to drive at a slow rate of speed.
Officers pursued the truck, following south on Randall Avenue. As they followed, Martinez drove recklessly, at times on the wrong side of the road and running red lights.
The pursuit ended when Martinez stopped the truck at the intersection of West 25th Street and Pioneer Avenue. He continued to actively resist and fight with officers until he was taken into custody.
Following the arrest, officers searched the truck and located a rifle with a modified stock. Martinez is a previously convicted felon and is prohibited from possessing a firearm.
