Cheyenne Police Lieutenant Brett Durante recently graduated as a member of the 295th session of the FBI National Academy. The graduation took place in Quantico, Virginia on September 4. Nationally, fewer than one percent of officers have the opportunity to attend the program.
The FBI National Academy is a 10-week course that brings together law enforcement professionals from across the world to train in leadership, advanced communication, and fitness. To qualify, participants must demonstrate a proven track record of professionalism within their agencies. This session included 254 graduates from 20 countries, six branches of the military, and several federal civilian organizations.
Durante has served at the Cheyenne Police Department for 21 years and is a current member of the Command Staff – he has held a supervisor role since 2012. Throughout his career, Durante has been actively involved in many roles to include, the SWAT Commander, Patrol Lieutenant, Support Services Lieutenant, School Resource Officer Sergeant, Detective Bureau Sergeant, firearms instructor, and a DEA Drug Task Force Officer.
“Lieutenant Durante’s experience and guidance strengthen our team every day, and we are proud to celebrate this accomplishment,” said Chief Mark Francisco. “With this graduation, five members of our command staff have completed an advanced leadership training.”
