Citizens Police Academy
Spring 2019 Citizens Police Academy Registration -open from February 25-March 3 or when 30 spots have been filled.

The Citizen's Police Academy is a special community education and involvement program developed to increase citizen awareness and understanding of the role of law enforcement. The academy is designed for citizens of all backgrounds and occupations. Upon completion of the comprehensive nine-week course, academy graduates will be better informed citizens with a new outlook on law enforcement and their Cheyenne Police Department.

The curriculum will include training and applications of constitutional law, criminal investigations, narcotics, as well as crime scene processing. Additionally, students will learn actively about defensive tactics, traffic enforcement, building searches, and firearms familiarization. Several practical exercises will be conducted so students can actually perform many elements of everyday law enforcement on the streets of Cheyenne, Wyoming.

Applicants must be at least 18-years-old, agree to a background investigation, have a valid driver’s license, and complete a waiver of liability. Space is limited to 30 valid applicants.

Applicants must attend and participate in at least eight of the twelve training sessions to graduate. Classes are held every Monday and Wednesday night from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm MST (March 11-April 10).
